Special Projects
Response to Intervention (RtI) School Projects
Educators throughout the Denver metro region have been
deeply committed to establishing and nurturing their learning community as
demonstrated by staff from multiple constituencies, at all levels,
collaboratively and continually working together. Such collaborative work
is grounded in reflective dialogue, in which educators work in
professional learning communities to discuss issues related to teaching
and learning. Response to Intervention (RtI) initiatives have the
potential to reform the way educators operate to meet the increasing
demands of today's diverse student population. The RtI framework promotes
a well-integrated system connecting general, compensatory, gifted, and
special education in providing high quality, standards-based instruction
and intervention that is matched to a student's academic, social-emotional
and behavioral needs.
In order to assist schools with their RtI
implementation efforts, the Metro Regional Professional Development
Council (MRPDC) is pleased to announce support for five building-based
projects. Each school team (consisting of 5-10 members representing varied
roles and perspectives) will be supported with $1,000.00 per semester for
one academic year ($2,000.00 total) to purchase needed materials/resources
to support RtI implementation. Additionally, the project leader for each
team will receive a $300.00 stipend per semester ($600.00) to coordinate
and oversee the project at their school.
